All Hands,
Mike Rigdon enlisted in the Navy in October 1961, serving on the USS Jupiter AVS-8 from Oct. 1962 till decommissioning her in June of 1964. Also stood watch on the USS Missouri while it was "mothballed" at Bremerton, Washington. My last tour of duty was with VU-3, a Utility Squadron at North Island NAS, San Diego until July 1965. I Thought I would never have anything to do with the Navy again, in 1996, I attended a reunion of the USS Jupiter. The rest is history. I have been historian and Newsletter Editor for the ship now for 12 years. I am also a Curator aboard the USS Midway CV-41, the Aircraft Carrier Museum now a major part of the San Diego waterfront.
